Craig Sager's Suits

"The thing with Craig is he gets away with wearing colors that everyone in the world would be afraid to wear… yellow, orange, purple, and he loves it." --Bruce Teilhaber

In case you missed it: Some fun reading for the off-season

08/11/2008 - The Washington Post
Bud Lights and Blondes: Five Minutes With Craig Sager
By Dan Steinberg

This article is from 2008, but somehow I had never read it. Great stuff. Loved the stuff on Stacy (I didn’t realize she was a Luvabull!) and his take on the “uniform” they made him wear during the 2008 Olympics:

Oh my God! It’s terrible! I’ve got to wear this little vest bib! I’m getting a lot of grief from the NBA players. You know, ‘Where’s your sport coat, where’s your tie?’

Not sure what the current NBA players on Team USA think of the blue polo, but I hope they are just as dismayed. (Well maybe not “just as.” I do have to admit this year’s polo is a million times better than that awful “smock” or whatever from 2008. Anyways… Free Sager’s suits!! ;)

2008 vs. 2012

Here’s an article from last May:

Does This Suit Make Me Look Insane?
By Wesley Morris

This article was fun to read although I completely disagree with this sentence with every fiber of my being:

Craig Sager is wearing the ugliest clothes you’ve ever seen.

If by “ugliest” he means “awesomest” then ok. :p

He kinda sorta redeems himself here:

Are the suits ever wearing him? The answer, with rare exceptions, like an ominous, galactic-looking jacket that I call Hale-Bopp, is no. Both the man and the clothes are often in unison.

This I agree with:

He dresses the way he does because there’s entertainment in these clothes. They want attention and they get it. He happens to carry them off with confidence. But there’s romantic aspiration in them, too.

And file this under, ‘Who could blame him?’:

He dresses like a man whose true goal was to meet or marry a Luvabull.

Anyway, that’s all I’ve got. Hope everyone is enjoying the Olympics!

Terrence Ross knows what’s up!

Craig Sager: We got a tweet a little while ago and Andre Iguodala said you were the best dressed of everyone in the green room. How do you pick out what you’re going to wear?

Terrence Ross: Uh I mean it’s hard, I’ve seen some of your clips before so I had to you know, out-show you or something or at least try so… Motivation.

Craig Sager: All right, well you look great. Congratulations. Look forward to seeing you.

Terrence Ross: Thank you.

Q&A with Stacy Sager

Craig Sager’s better half, Stacy Sager, was nice enough to answer a few questions about her famous hubby. Please to enjoy…

1. CraigSagersSuits: People assume that because your husband wears bright colors and bold patterns, that he’s eccentric. Is he? Or is he just a regular guy that happens to like outside-the-box fashion?

Stacy Sager: Craig is far from a ‘regular’ guy, however, he is definitely not eccentric.  He calls his suits his ‘game uniform’.

2. CraigSagersSuits: What happens to older suits that drop out of the rotation? Do they get archived, moved to another closet, donated?

Stacy Sager: Typically, he will donate his suits to charity or hang them in our sports bar we own.  Jocks & Jills Sports Grill in Atlanta.

3. CraigSagersSuits: With all the attention his suits get, has he ever considered launching his own line of suits, shoes or ties?

Stacy Sager: He has been approached several times about starting his own clothing line for suits and/or ties.  When the right opportunity arises, I know he would embrace it.

//Editor’s note: A line of Craig Sager suits! So meta! :D

Special thanks to Stacy for taking the time to answer a few questions!
